Food Festival 2012
In the late summer of 2012 FOODs largest and most ambitious event so far, will take place. Food Festival is going to be the biggest event around the Nordic gastronomy and food culture in all of Scandinavia. We are focusing on the change that is taking place in the food culture connected to this region. We demand higher quality in the food we eat and the way it is produced.
The Nordic food culture is known to be pure, natural and of very high quality. FOOD aims to create a festival that embraces these qualities, and adds to the furthering of Nordic ingredients and consciousness of a more sustainable food culture in the future.
The Festival will take place in Aarhus, the second largest city in Denmark, on a natural location, called ‘Tangkrogen’. It is just outside the city center and with its beautiful location between coastline and forest; the nature will be an important element in stating the message of Food Festival.
Food Festival Theme Areas
There will be about 5 big theme areas. One with special activities for children, a chefs contest scene, where primarily the young chefs can battle and unfold their skills, and an area with cooking classes where everyone, from beginners or amateur chefs to the highly trained master chefs can develop their skills and get new inspiration to the everyday kitchen.
The festival will host a large scale international scientist conference. Some of the leading heads in food science and development will discuss how the sustainable food culture within the natural Nordic concept can be developed and how E-numbers can be replaced with natural additives.
The heart of the festival is a great market place, again divided into areas, such asfruit & vegetables, fish & shellfish, bread & bakery, wine area and many more. Once the day is over, guests have filled their baskets with all kinds off quality foods and the whole family is loaded with new knowledge and experiences, it is time to enjoy Denmark’s biggest barbecue or a gourmet dinner at affordable prices.
The festival takes place on September 6th-9th 2012. Keep yourself updated, on the Food Festival website: www.foodfestival.dk
